Where to start and how to get in
The major sites covered by the Firenze Card sit in the historic centre, mostly just a few minutes' walk from one another. The Uffizi, Palazzo Vecchio and Bargello cluster around Piazza della Signoria, the Accademia is over toward the Duomo, and the Palazzo Pitti with its Boboli Gardens lies across the Arno in the Oltrarno district. You can reach almost everything on foot. Get the card as a digital pass in the app, or as a physical card that you collect - with your voucher and ID - from a pick-up point, centrally located at Palazzo Vecchio on Piazza della Signoria.
Entry and how it works
At the entrance, show your card or the barcode from the app - at many sites this lets you skip the regular ticket queue. Important: a reservation is required for the most sought-after museums, including the Uffizi, Accademia, Palazzo Vecchio, the Brancacci Chapel, the Arnolfo Tower and the Palazzo Medici Riccardi. Booking is free with the card, but it must be made in advance and can't be changed once confirmed. Best to sort this out right after buying the card - in high season, time slots for the Uffizi and Accademia fill up early.
What's included and what isn't
The card opens the door to the permanent collections and any current special exhibitions once at each site, across a large number of the city's museums. A second visit to the same museum isn't covered. Children under 18 travelling with you go free, but they need to be linked to your card before their first visit, and you'll need to book their reservations too.
Duration, timing and the small print
The 72 hours start with your first museum visit and then run continuously, so plan the major sites early in your trip. Many museums close one day a week, often Mondays for the big names, so check opening days before booking in the official calendar.
