Location and getting there
Museum Island lies in the heart of Berlin, on an island in the Spree between Lustgarten and Bodestraße. The quickest way there is by U-Bahn: line U5 stops right at Museumsinsel station. By S-Bahn, get off at Hackescher Markt or Friedrichstraße, then it's a few minutes' walk across the Spree bridges. The Am Kupfergraben tram and buses towards Lustgarten also drop you within walking distance. The main entrance for most of the houses is the James-Simon-Galerie on Bodestraße, from where you fan out to the individual museums.
Entry and visit flow
There's a security check at the entrance, and large bags or backpacks need to go into the cloakroom. You'll usually need a coin for the lockers, so keep one handy. A free time slot is recommended for the Neues Museum with its bust of Nefertiti, especially at weekends. For the other houses, your day ticket is flexible - walk in whenever you like while they're open. The island's museums are generally open daily except Mondays, with extended evening hours on some days. Check the booking calendar for the current opening hours and available slots.

Special exhibitions with separate admission aren't automatically included.
Duration, children and rebooking
Allow one to two hours per house - a more relaxed pace is two or three museums in a day rather than all of them at once. It's quietest early in the morning and on weekdays. Children and teenagers under 18 get free entry, with discounts for other groups.
