Location and getting there
The Vienna Pass highlights are spread across the city. Schönbrunn Palace is reached on the U4 towards Hütteldorf, getting off at Schönbrunn station (around a seven to ten minute walk over the glass bridge), or one stop further at Hietzing, right by the Hietzinger Tor gate. The Giant Wheel stands in the Prater and is linked via Praterstern on the U1 and U2. The hop-on hop-off bus included in the pass, run by Vienna Sightseeing, connects the main stops and runs throughout the pass's entire validity with no limit on rides. Note: engineering works with a rail replacement bus service are scheduled on the U4 in 2026 and 2027, so check the current status with Wiener Linien before you travel.
Entry and how it works
The Vienna Pass is a mobile pass with a QR code, which you show and have scanned from your smartphone at the ticket counter or turnstile. Validity doesn't start on purchase but on first use, that is, at your first attraction or your first bus ride. From there, the days run consecutively until midnight on the last valid day. For Schönbrunn Palace you need to book a time slot in advance and enter your pass number. There's no priority entry there, so allow for some waiting time.
What's included, what isn't
Around 90 attractions are included, with one visit per attraction, plus unlimited use of the hop-on hop-off bus. Public transport, including the metro and tram, isn't included, so book that separately if you need it.
